NPTC Announces Safety Award Winners

ARLINGTON, VA – The National Private Truck Council (NPTC) recognized those fleet members who continue to elevate safety performance during the group’s Annual Education Management Conference and Exhibition held April 28-30, 2013 in Cincinnati.

“The purpose of the Safety Awards program is to recognize member companies that strive to make private fleet safety a benchmark of their operations,” said Randy Perry, CTP, Fleet Safety Manager for Frito-Lay, Inc. and Chair of the NPTC Safety Committee. “The NPTC/Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions Fleet of the Year Awards are presented to companies whose fleets experienced the lowest ratio of accidents per million miles for the past year.” The 2013 winners (based on safety performance achieved in 2012) are:

LOCAL OPERATIONS (fleets whose vehicles deliver in a local market regardless of size)

  • First Place: American Proteins

REGIONAL OPERATIONS

  • First Place: The Gates Corporation
  • Second Place: Energy Solutions/Hittman Transport Services, Inc.
  • Third Place: CTS/Sherwin-Williams Company

MIXED OPERATIONS (Small Fleet – less than 50 vehicles)

  • First Place: Sugar Foods Corporation
  • Second Place: Metal Exchange Corporation
  • Third Place: Unifi Manufacturing

MIXED OPERATIONS (Large Fleet – 50 vehicles or more)

  • First Place: NEP Broadcasting
  • Second Place: Targa Transport LLC
  • Third Place: Baxter Healthcare Homecare Services

Also recognized, were those fleets with outstanding and/or improved safety records based upon their crash rates. Winners of the Gold Seal, awarded to fleets that experienced ZERO crashes in 2011, include:

  • ADM Trucking, Inc.
  • Cooper Tire and Rubber Company
  • CVS Transportation LLC
  • Energy Solutions/Hittman Transport Services, Inc.
  • Frito-Lay, Inc.
  • Linde LLC
  • Orgill Transportation Co. LLC
  • Targa Transport LLC
  • The Gates Corporation

Winners of the Silver Seal, presented to those companies whose fleets reduced their vehicle crash rates by 40% or more compared to the previous year, were:

  • GNC Transportation, LLC
  • Kraft Foods Group, Inc.
  • Moen, Incorporated
  • NEP Broadcasting
  • North American Pipe Corporation

  • Targa Transport LLC

The Bronze Seal recognition is presented to companies who have reduced their vehicle crash rates by 20% to 39% from the previous year. The winners of the Bronze Seal are:
